Week 1 in the books.
I can’t believe that its already been a week! So much has happened and I’m so completely over stimulated that it feels like I’ve been here for a month now.
I successfully made it to my hostel Thursday night after I landed in Guatemala City and used the little Spanish I knew to tell the taxi driver where I was staying and how much I wanted to pay. Once I got to the hostel, the woman who was the manager spoke zero English and it was insanely difficult to communicate for us. It was actually pretty funny. I only stayed one night bet met a dude name Nate that is riding a bike from the tip of Alaska to the tip of Argentina. You can check out his journey here on Instagram if you like. A total badass.
Upon arrival to the airport, I was told that my flight to San Francisco was being rerouted due to heavy fog that was causing delays and I would not being able to catch my connecting flight to Orlando. So instead, I flew to the other side of the country first and Landed in DC at Dulles International. This ended up being great for me because I went from riding in a packed plane to Frisco to having an entire row to myself to lounge about and stretch my legs. The only thing better than that is first class. An even better part about this flight was that I was able to test out a travel hacking tip I’d read about in the past.
