#Volcan #Concepción is one of two volcanoes that form the island of #Omotepe in the middle of #LagoDeNicaragua. SInce 1883, this active volcano has erupted at least 25 times, the last being in 2010. At 1,610 m (5,282 ft) the entire hike took about 7 hours to complete. The best part was getting to the very top and climbing to the edge of the crater and looking down into a cloudy abyss. I couldn’t help but scream and yell with excitement from the rush of adrenaline pumping through my veins. Every so often while I was on the edge, the swirling clouds would open up for a few seconds and I was rewarded with breath-taking views of the #VolcanMaderas on the other side of the island. Truly, one of the most unique hikes I’ve ever been on in my life.
The neighborhood of #VilaMadalena in #SaoPaulo kicks so much ass. Almost all of the walls on the streets are covered with street art and you can feel the creative vibe humming through the whole town. I love it.

#viewfromtheroof in #Somoto #Canyon, #Nicaragua. This is a beautiful hike down into a river canyon right on the border of #Nicaragua and #Honduras where two rivers come together in a beautiful gorge. We started by walking through some open farmland and meandered down to the valley where the river gorge would eventually begin. Once we arrived at the river, we either waded or swam through its waters while yelling at the high rock walls to hear our voices echo. After making our way down the river, we arrived at a great cliff jumping place and had a incredible time throwing ourselves down into the water 10 meters below. The exit out of the canyon included a gentle boat ride down the river and walking through herds of cows, horses, and donkeys along the edge of the water. Such a beautiful place and I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to be in the #Estelli / Somoto area.
